This Privacy Policy explains how the Summa Calculator app ("the app", "we", "us") handles information when you use it. We built the app to do calculations and everyday finance tasks on your device. We collect as little as possible, and we do not require you to create an account or sign in.

Short version: Your calculations, history, and settings stay on your device. The microphone is used only by Premium subscribers, and only while you hold the mic button. Scan amount uses the camera (or a photo you pick) on your device — photos are not uploaded. Fuel Trip can look up a road distance from place names you type (not GPS). The free app shows ads (Google AdMob) and uses basic analytics and anti-abuse services from Google. We do not sell your personal data.

1. Information the app uses

a) Microphone & voice input (Premium)

Voice input is a Premium feature. Free users can use all calculator and tool screens by typing; the mic button is not shown until you have an active Premium subscription (or eligible trial).

When a Premium user presses and holds the microphone button, the app uses the microphone only for that moment to convert speech into text (for example, a number to calculate). Speech recognition is performed by your device's speech service (typically provided by Google or your device manufacturer). The app does not store your voice recordings on your device beyond that session. Audio capture stops as soon as you release the button.

With Premium, optional AI voice interpretation may send the text transcript (not raw audio) to our secure cloud service to understand natural-language requests. That processing is tied to your subscription and subject to fair-use limits on Standard plans. We do not sell transcript content to third parties.

b) Advertising

The app displays ads using Google AdMob. To serve ads, Google may collect and process certain data, such as your device's advertising identifier and information about your device and ad interactions. This is handled by Google in accordance with its policies. See How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services.

c) Analytics & app integrity

We use Google Firebase Analytics to understand general, aggregated app usage (for example, which features are opened) so we can improve the app. We also use Firebase App Check with Play Integrity to help protect the app and its backend calls from abuse. These services may process device identifiers and similar technical data.

d) Internet features (currency rates and Fuel Trip places)

Some tools, such as the currency converter, fetch exchange-rate data over the internet from a third-party rate provider. These requests send standard technical information (such as your IP address, as part of any normal internet request) but do not include your personal calculations.

Fuel Trip can look up a driving distance when you type From and To. Those place names (not GPS, and not your current location) are sent to OpenStreetMap services (Photon and OSRM) to suggest places and measure the road. You can always type the distance yourself instead. We do not store those lookups on our servers.

e) Data stored on your device

Your calculation history, tip/budget entries, currency selections, and app preferences are stored locally on your device. They are not uploaded to us. You can remove this data at any time by clearing history within the app or by uninstalling the app.

f) Notifications

With your permission, the app may show local reminders (for example, budget or daily snapshot reminders). These are generated on your device.

g) Camera & Scan amount (on-device)

When you tap Scan on the calculator, the app can use the camera (or a photo you choose with the system photo picker) to read a printed amount, such as a price or total. Text recognition runs on your device. We do not upload the photo, and we do not get broad access to your gallery. Camera permission is requested only when you use Scan. You can still pick a photo if you decline camera access.

2. Permissions and why they are used

3. How information is shared

We do not sell your personal data. Limited technical data is processed by the third-party service providers described above (Google AdMob, Google Firebase) so they can provide their services to us. Optional Fuel Trip place names are sent to OpenStreetMap services (Photon and OSRM) only to look up a road distance. Their handling of data is governed by their own privacy policies:

4. Data retention & deletion

Data stored on your device remains until you clear it in the app or uninstall the app. Aggregated analytics and ad-related data are retained by the relevant Google service according to its policies. To request help regarding your data, contact us using the details below.

5. Children

The app is intended for a general audience and is not directed to children under the age required by your local law for data processing. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

6. Your rights

Depending on where you live (for example, under GDPR in the EU/EEA or the CCPA in California), you may have rights to access, correct, or delete certain data, and to object to certain processing. Because the app does not require an account and stores your content locally, you can exercise much of this directly by clearing data in the app. For other requests, contact us below.

7. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the app evolves (for example, if cloud AI voice features are introduced in a future version). We will update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app.
